The Doctor darted around the TARDIS console, flicking switches and pressing buttons. His actions got more frantic as still the machine didn't respond, and before long he'd grabbed a hammer, hanging always ready on a nearby string and whacked it several times across the control panel. When still nothing happened, he stepped back, crossing his arms.
Donna looked on nervously.
“What's wrong?” she asked, looking over his shoulder.
“She'd dead.” he said blatantly, and they both stared at their only way home.
This is where we pick up. The Doctor-Donna was never formed, the Daleks never tried to take over Earth (not yet anyway) and Rose has not made it through the dimensions.
They'd been travelling, as usual, in the TARDIS when she started to get sluggish. Assuming she simply needed a refill, they'd changed their plans and headed to Cardiff for a night on the rift. A visit to Torchwood, twelve hours and it was time to go.
But the TARDIS won't move.
She's not moving. The Doctor is working frantically to get her going again- she's more than just a ship to him. Donna's enjoying some time back on Earth, and in Jack's company while they stay with Torchwood.
But this isn't the worst of it.
There's trouble brewing.
The shifters are playing up. They're going crazy - killing, maiming innocent people. Psychics are experiencing interference with visions, feed back, weird things, unsual things.
Torchwood is working overtime, trying to keep a lid on the increasing number of aliens passing through the rift.
Old friends and enemies are returning to Cardiff, some that we thought we'd never see again.
Rose has returned. With her universe ahead of this one, does she have an answer?
Only time will tell, while our heroes are
